Mary-Ann Musangi

Mary-Ann Musangi is a Kenyan businesswoman and entrepreneur based in Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. She sits on at least seven boards of publicly traded and private Kenyan companies, including Sidian Bank (formerly K-Rep Bank),[1] Haco Tiger Brands, UAP Investments Limited, International House Limited, Woof Advertising & Marketing, Croyden Limited and Sheraton Rongai.[2]

Background and education

She was born circa 1971 to Christopher John Kirubi and Mrs. Kirubi. Her parents have since divorced.[3] She holds a Bachelor of Arts in international business administration and a Master of Science in management from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom[2][3]

In July 2017, in an interview with the Business Daily Africa newspaper, she describes her mother as "a lovely lady", "very low key", "very hardworking", "loves her kids". She is now retired.[3]

Mary-Ann views her father as a mentor who grew up with nothing and today is one of Kenya's most accomplished businessmen.[3]

Career

Starting as at the age of 23 years, Mrs. Musangi has worked with several international companies, including the Coca-Cola Company, Kenya Commercial Bank, GlaxoSmithKline and Ogilvy & Mather.[2][3]

After 15 years as a corporate employee, in 2009 she ventured out on her own and started a restaurant called "Secret Garden" located on Riverside Drive, Nairobi. In February 2017, when Two Rivers Mall opened,[4] she established "Olpul", an upscale "steakhouse".[3]

Personal life

She is married to Andrew Mukite Musangi, an attorney. Together they have children.[3][5] She describes her husband as "amazing", "so nice", tolerant, "very supportive" and "works with the kids..", "my backbone".[3]
