Synopsis
Mariam Khan is an imaginative and curious child who does not take things at face value. She is the youngest member of a large family. Her grandfather is the patriarch. Mariam idolizes her father Majaaz Khan (Khalid Siddiqui), who is an idealistic journalist and owns a newspaper. The show is based in Bhopal, a city that mixes westernization and tradition. Her mother Madeeha (Rukhsar Rehman) is only concerned with marrying off her daughters, while Mariam plans to become a reporter and shares an emotional bond with her father. But the Khan family is hiding a secret from the world. Unbeknownst to the younger generation, her father is accused of terrorism and is shot dead while a pilgrim takes away young Mariam.
10 years later
Mariam grows up. To escape her past, she adopts the name Manjeet Kaur and starts living in Amritsar working as an independent cab driver. One day while taking one of her passengers to Badnaam Gali to meet a stranger (Fawad), she is shocked to see her father's photo in his hand. Later on, she suspects Fawad and tries to learn more about her father. In this process she learns that her ostensibly dead family is actually alive and her house did not burn down. She was made to believe that her family wasn't alive by Fawad's mother so that she could own the ancestral home in the name of Mariam
Mariam and Fawad fall in love. Majaaz is revealed to be alive and not a terrorist. Later Majaaz joins them. They start preparing for the marriage of Zain and Meher and Fawad and Mariam. Then they come to know about Fawad's and Bhakti's daughter, Cheeku
Later they realize that Cheeku isn't Fawad's daughter & that Fawad's evil mother had blackmailed Bhakti to say so but she denied. Finally Fawad's mother killed off Bhakthi & created a fake story that Cheeku is Fawad's daughter.
Mariam finds out everything following which Fawad's mother get arrested & Cheeku is adopted legally as Mariam & Fawad's daughter

Production
The show took over the time slot of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and the latter was shifted to late night slot.[3]
In September 2018, actress Priyanka Kandwal quit the show as she doesn't want to age after the leap. In the same month, actor Avinash Mishra quit as he was dissatisfied with the screen time given to his character.[7] Paras Kalnawat also quit the show as he was disappointment with the makers as they didn't offer him the lead character role as they promised.[8]
It initially started Deshna Dugad. Owing to low ratings, the storyline took a leap which started Mahima Makwana and Param Singh.[9]
