Maret-Mai Otsa

Maret-Mai(e) Otsa-Višnjova (22 February 1931 – 2 May 2020) was a Soviet-Estonian basketball player and coach.[1][2][3]

Career

Višnjova played in her career for Tartu Ülikool from 1950 to 1963. With the team she became three times second at the Soviet Women's Basketball Championship, in 1957, 1958 and 1959. She was player-coach for Dinamo Minsk from 1963 to 1967.

With the Soviet national team, Višnjova became world champion at the 1959 FIBA World Championship for Women and four times European Champion at the European Championships at the 1952 edition, 1954 edition, 1956 edition and 1960 edition. At the 1958 edition she won with the team the silver medal.

Personal

Višnjova was born in Kohtla-Järve. She married Viktor Višnjov. She died in Jõhvi on 2 May 2020.[4]
