Maite Beaumont

Maite Beaumont is a Spanish operatic mezzo-soprano. Born in Pamplona, she studied voice and violin at the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory and sociology at the University of Navarra. She completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg[1] with Hanna Schwarz. She won numerous awards, including the "Voice with the best future".[2]

Career

In 2000 she joined Hamburg State Opera’s Young Artist Programme where she jumped in as Ruggiero in their new production of Alcina in 2002.[3] She joined the company as a member of their ensemble from 2003 to 2006, where she regularly appeared in many important roles of her repertoire.[4]

In 2005 she gave her debut at the Salzburg Festival as Dorabella[5] in Cosi Fan Tutte.

She has appeared at the Opéra national de Paris, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona,[6] the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin, the Théâtre du Capitol in Toulouse, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Teatro della Scana in Milan, the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile and the Lyric Opera Chicago.

Beaumont's large opera repertoire includes Sesto ("La Clemenza di Tito"), Donna Elvira ("Don Giovanni"), Rosina ("Il Barbiere di Siviglia"), Angelina ("La Cenerentola") and Composer ("Ariadne auf Naxos").

Concert singer

Beaumont is also a very active concert singer, and her repertoire includes works from baroque to contemporary music. She has performed with orchestras including the Academy of Ancient Music, Bamberger Symphoniker, Bremer Kammerphilharmonie, Camerata Salzburg, Ensemble Resonanz, Il Complesso Barocco, the Mozarteum Orchester, and Ensemble Intercomporain Paris. She has worked with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Alan Curtis, Giovanni Antonini, Christoph Eschenbach, Adam Fischer, Emanuelle Haim, Martin Haselböck, Christipher Hogwood, Ingo Metzmacher, Sir Roger Norrington, Christopher Rousset, Simone Young and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
