Mahdi Gilbert

Mahdi Gilbert is a Canadian professional sleight of hand card magician and motivational speaker. He was born without hands and feet and so had to individually create all of the techniques he employs in his illusions.[1] He's stated, "I had to become self-sufficient from an early age; there's no magic books written for me."[2][3]

Mahdi Gilbert began his television career in 2015 when a variety of his performances were broadcast to the entire nation of Finland through MTV and YLE to promote his live show, Modern Magic: An Evening of Bespoke Conjuring.

The Academy of Magical Arts invited Mahdi to perform his close-up card magic at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, one of the world's most exclusive clubs. He is one of the only magicians in the world to hold an open invitation to perform whenever he would like.

He was the first foreign magician to appear on South Korean national television in 2016. (SBS) Star King (놀라운 대회 스타킹), the most popular program in the country devoted an entire episode to his magic and his motivational speaking.

Legendary Vegas showman, Johnny Thompson personally invited Mahdi to Las Vegas to appear on Penn & Teller's: Fool Us (The CW). Mahdi fooled Penn & Teller on US national television and remains one of the only magicians in the world to have done so. He was later invited to perform at the Penn & Teller Theater in the Rio Hotel & Casino.

Portuguese illusionist, Luís de Matos invited Mahdi to perform sleight of hand magic for British illusionist, Dynamo & Portuguese athlete, Patrícia Mamona on IMPOSSÍVEL (RTP1), a live, national television series in 2017. Millions more in Germany tuned in to watch Mahdi perform on Die Ehrlich Brothers präsentieren: Showdown der weltbesten Magier (RTL). The British Broadcasting Corporation invited Mahdi Gilbert to perform live on national television in 2018. Over 5 million people tuned in to see Mahdi's episode on (BBC One) The One Show.

Hundreds of millions of people watched him dazzle Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) on (JSBC) The Amazing Magicians (超凡魔术师), a TV show that became the number one television program in China and the entire world for twelve weeks, regularly watched by 650 million people.

Don Fritz, producer of the Broadway hit, The Lion King & Beauty & the Beast directed Mahdi in Ocean of Dreams, a show that premiered at the Shanghai Life Magic Festival in 2018.

In 2019, Mahdi appeared on Canadian national television through The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. They profiled the story of his life on CBC Arts: Exhibitionists.[4]

Mahdi Gilbert is the only magician in the world without hands and feet since the renowned 17th century conjuror, Matthias Buchinger. Mahdi was awarded the Allan Slaight Award for being the first Canadian Rising Star[5] in magic and the Jay Marshall Award[6] by Magicana.
