Mad Mimi

Mad Mimi is an email marketing service founded by Gary Levitt in 2007.[1] It enables users to create, send, and track email campaigns without using templates.[2] Originating in Brooklyn, New York, Mad Mimi was initially conceived as a tool for musicians to create online press kits[3] but the idea pivoted to an email marketing platform featuring a simple design experience.[4] In August 2014, the company was acquired by GoDaddy Inc.[5][6]

Founder, Gary Levitt, first had the idea of building "a web app for musicians like himself who wanted to offer an online press kit." Halfway through the project, he decided to scrap the idea and work on an email service instead. He began the project with no marketing and no funding, and only had two people to work for him until it grew to 36 employees. By 2014, Mad Mimi had 250,000 customers, sending out 50 million-plus emails daily. The company attracted big names like Disney, Kellog's, Facebook, and others, which "were using Mad Mimi for internal corporate communications."[1]
