In 2017 Lumension was part of the merger of LANDESK and HEAT Software to create a new IT Software company called Ivanti.

Lumension was founded as High Tech Software in 1991. The company was rebranded as PatchLink Corporation in 1999 and then adopted the Lumension name in 2007.[2] In 2015 Frontrange and Lumension combined to create HEAT Software. In 2017, HEAT and LANDESK combined to create Ivanti.

Lumension products traditionally competed in the endpoint management and security industry against Sophos, McAfee, Kaspersky Lab, Symantec and Trend Micro among others.
