Luhanske, Bakhmut Raion

Luhanske (Ukrainian: Луганське; Russian: Луганское, romanized: Luganskoye) is an urban-type settlement in Bakhmut Raion, a part of Donetsk Oblast in Ukraine. It is located on the M04 highway, about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Bakhmut. The population of Luhanske was 2,222(2016 est.)[2].

The settlement has been damaged by and is on the frontline of the War in Donbass.[3] The UNHCR reported in February 2017 that it was inhabited by a "handful of elderly residents".[3] The settlement is controlled by the Ukrainian army.[4]
