Lucía Álvarez

Lucía Álvarez Vázquez (born November 28, 1948) is a Mexican composer and pianist.

Born in Mexico City, Álvarez received her degree in piano from the Facultad de Música of the National Autonomous University of Mexico; her instructors there included Carlos Vázquez, Pablo Castellanos, and Jorge Suárez. Other teachers have included Américo Caramuta and Pierre van Hawe. Álvarez has taught at her alma mater. Her works include choral pieces and chamber music, as well as several larger-scale compositions.[1] She has also been active as a composer of film scores and music for television.[2]
