Livi Zheng

Livi Zheng (born April 3, 1989) is an Indonesian producer, director, actress, and stuntwoman.[1] She began her career as a stuntwoman at the age of fifteen and has since directed Brush with Danger (2014).[2][3] Her most recent film Bali: Beats of Paradise premiered at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences November 7, 2018.[4] Bali: Beats of Paradise opened in theaters in the US November 16, 2018. Livi is now finishing an action thriller starring Tony Todd,[5] John Savage, Ken Zheng, Keith David, Madeline Zima and Sean Patrick Flanery.

Early life

Zheng was born in East Java, Indonesia on April 3, 1989.[6] A few years after she was born, Zheng and her family moved to Jakarta, Indonesia. Zheng has one younger brother, Ken who is also involved with film and martial arts. Zheng moved to Beijing when she was fifteen, and to the United States when she was eighteen.[6][7]

Martial arts and stunt work

Zheng represented Washington State’s Karate team during her college years and won more than 25 medals and trophies for regional as well as national competition throughout the United States.[8] Zheng won competitions ranging from 2009 US Open, Orlando, 36th Annual Shorinryu Open Karate Championships, to 2010 Washington State Karate Federation Invitational Tournament and USA National Karate Federation Qualifier. Livi started her career in stunts.

Education

Zheng attended elementary and middle school in Indonesia, and while working on her stunt career, Zheng attended the Western Academy of Beijing. After graduating from the Western Academy, Zheng attended the University of Washington, where she earned her bachelor's degree in economics, and was inducted into the International Economics Honor Society.[6] Upon graduation, she pursued her master's degree at University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. In 2016, Zheng graduated and received her MFA in Film Production.[9]

Award

Zheng received the Culture Ambassador Award at the Unforgettable Gala along with Jon. M. Chu and John Cho that was held in December 8, 2018 in Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills.[10][11]
