The Ultimatum (simplified Chinese: 双子星) was a Singaporean television drama series that was produced by MediaCorp Studios in 2009 and aired on MediaCorp Channel 8. Starring Zoe Tay, Fann Wong, Li Nanxing and Tay Ping Hui, the series was the first drama to be fully filmed in HD. As of 7 July 2009, all 30 episodes of The Ultimatum have been aired on Channel 8.

Ye Yuchen (Zoe Tay), the CEO of Phoenix Holdings, is involved in a murder case. She had planned to leave with her boyfriend, Zhida (Li Nanxing), but later decides to turn back to meet Fang Songqiao (Fann Wong), a woman born on the same day, month and year as she was. Songqiao agrees to meet Yuchen when the latter asserts that Zhida is with her. Her boyfriend, Sun Jie (Tay Ping Hui), decides to trail and protect her. Sun Jie shields Songqiao from Yuchen’s gun and is shot. Yuchen then points her gun at Songqiao. The clock turns back 30 years. Ye Songnian (Chen Shucheng), boss of Phoenix Holdings, rapes his employee, Wenyu (Hong Huifang), in his office. She is already pregnant with her husband, Fang Weiguo’s baby. Wenyu’s father, Zheng Tong, is also Songnian’s employee. He confronts Songnian and is killed by bricks during the tussle. Wenyu hates Songnian for raping her and causing her father’s death. | Rende (Jerry Yeo) brings models to his office, as he assumes no one will dare tell him off because of his mother’s position. Yuchen’s assistant, Anqi, is about to leave the office when she sees the intoxicated Rende frolicking in the office with two scantily dressed women. Rende tempts Anqi with a bribe and touches her bottom. The next morning, Anqi tenders her resignation. Yuchen confronts Rende. Rende admits his guilt in front of Ruolin (Constance Song). Ruolin and Rende are relieved when Yuchen promises to make Anqi keep silent about the matter. Wenyu tells Songqiao to buy char siew buns, as it is Weiguo’s anniversary. Wenyu is busy preparing the items to offer to her late husband and father, when Songqiao’s brother, Songqing (Zhang Zhenhuan), returns from abroad with a big suitcase full of baking utensils. Wenyu treats Songqing well but picks on Songqiao. Songqiao is scolded for returning home late with the char siew buns. When she is not allowed to offer incense, Wenyu admonishes her for not seeking justice for her grandfather and father. Songqiao explains that her investigations show Songnian deals in decent businesses and not in illegal items like drugs as Wenyu has alleged. | |||

| Roxy is unhappy she lost her alimony because Songqiao caused Ben to be sent to prison. She threatens to sue Songqiao for revealing details of her venereal disease. Yuchen overhears the conversation between Roxy and Songqiao. She hands Songqiao a cheque and urges her to let his boxer shorts. He explains he lost a bet and has to complete the run in his boxer shorts. Bao (Cynthia Koh) urges Zhida to work as a cleaner in the eatery where she works. When Zhida ignores Bao, the latter threatens to kill her. Zhida is positive Bao would not do such a silly thing. He even places a wager with his friends. When Bao decides to jump, he relents and agrees to go for the interview. The shop where Bao works has a handsome pastry chef, who is Songqiao’s brother, Songqing. Zhida asks Songqing to gamble with him, even though it is their first meeting. Suzhen buys a set of Chinese stationery for Songnian and is unhappy when Ruolin steals the limelight by explaining the origins of the items to Songnian. | |||

| Sun Jie’s sister, Sun Min (Felicia Chin), meets Zhida at an illegal gambling den and refuses to let him go. Her idol is Zhang Feng (Li Nanxing) and she believes Zhida is Zhang Feng. No matter how Zhida denies it, Sun Min is determined to make him accept her as his disciple. Both Sun Min and Zhida are arrested at the den. As Sun Min fails to contact Sun Jie, Bao bails Sun Min out when she posts bail for Zhida. Sun Min withdraws money from the ATM to repay Bao. She places a wager with Zhida. If she cannot prove Zhida is Zhang Feng within one month, she will pay him $1000. If she succeeds, Zhida will have to take her in as his disciple. Renyi (Elvin Ng) asks Songqiao out cycling. Songqiao is uneasy that Yuchen is there as well, but the two ladies get along. Songqiao tells Yuchen her father used to cycle with her when she was young. Yuchen tells Songqiao her relationship with her father has always been strained because of an incident that happened 10 years ago. Yuchen’s stepbrother, Renzhong, was kidnapped. Suzhen called the police and indirectly caused Renzhong to be killed by the kidnappers. Thereafter, Songnian treated her and Renyi coldly. | Songnian realises the painting is a fake. Ruolin and Renyi blame each other. Songnian is upset his family members fell for Kangrong’s trick in an attempt to gain favour with him. He is appalled that Ruolin was willing to share the gambling license with Kangrong. Ruolin’s efforts to gain more power in the company fall through. Songnian makes Renyi the Deputy CEO and warns Ruolin not to side with either of the young men in the family. She tries in vain to make Rende reform. Renxiao (Benedict Goh) consoles her and promises to help Rende. Renyi is pleased when Ruolin announces his promotion. Yuchen urges him to work hard and he is insulted. Sun Jie hands the real painting to Songnian and mentions he is checking on Bighead B. As Bighead B was involved in Renzhong’s kidnap, Songnian wants Sun Jie to investigate. Sun Jie is eager to find out the truth and clear his father’s name. Sun Jie met Songqiao when he was a kid and has not forgotten her. When she turns down his invitation to lunch, he buys a bun for her, thus rekindling her childhood memories. Songqiao learns Yuchen used Alex to blackmail Kangrong. Yuchen admits it and explains why. Yuchen tells Songqiao that Renyi likes her and she hopes Songqiao will treasure her brother’s love. | |||

| Zhida hones his gambling skills, as he is afraid Bai Yan will harm his daughter, Baoying. Sun Min tries to stop Zhida from flaring up and accidentally topples Songqing’s baking ingredient. Songqing cuts a part of Sun Min’s top, as there are remnants of the ingredient on it. Sun Min mistakenly assumes Songqing has exposed her disguise and warns the latter not to reveal it. As Zhida’s skills have not improved and the duel is drawing near, Sun Min seeks help from Sun Jie. Though Sun Jie is only Songnian’s foster son, Songnian trusts him and uses him to liaise with the underworld. Hong, who is Songnian’s close friend, asks Songnian to help him deal with a sum of money through Sun Jie. The day before Renzhong’s death anniversary, Rende and Renxiao go all out to sneer at Suzhen. Yuchen goes to the school she attended with Renzhong and meets Songnian there. What she says makes Songnian realize he has been hard on Suzhen all these years. Suzhen is pleasantly surprised when Songnian lets her present flowers to Renzhong. Ruolin becomes nervous when Songnian asserts that he is still looking for the person who caused Renzhong’s death. | |||

| Songqiao recognizes Sun Jie as the boy who was punished along with her when they were kids. She reminisces about the past. Back home, Wenyu is still awake. Songqiao is irritated when she sees the headlines about Songnian’s impending charity birthday bash. Wenyu tells Songqiao it is too late to exact revenge on a man who is going to be 70. Songqiao is concerned about the change in her mother’s attitude. The next morning, Songqiao trails Wenyu and sees her trying to stab Songnian in a park. She hurts her hands while trying to take the knife away from Wenyu. Songqiao takes Wenyu home and unwittingly reveals Yuchen is her friend. Wenyu loses control when she learns Songnian favors boys over girls. Songqiao is stunned that her mother is in such an unstable state. Renyi fires Chen and Zhang. Yuchen tries in vain to pacify the two. Songnian tells Renyi off for being so rash. Yuchen saves her brother by exposing Chen’s and Zhang’s misappropriation of funds. | Zhida is too absorbed with Baoying to hear Yuchen shouting out at him. She cries bitterly. Sun Min tells Yuchen that Bao claimed Zhida lost his memory after waking up from a three-day coma, which followed seven days and nights of gambling in Macau. She has no idea when Bao met Zhida, but suspects they are not a real couple. Yuchen learns Suzhen has been hospitalized; she was hurt during a tussle between Rende and Renyi. Just then, Sun Min calls to say Zhida has begun his duel with Bai Yan. Zhida loses the bet and is happy Bai Yan wants him to crawl under his pants instead of cutting off his limbs. Yuchen and Sun Min see Zhida crawling under Bai Yan’s pants. Yuchen is certain Zhida is Zhang Feng. Zhida takes Yuchen to his home, hoping she will stop insisting he is Zhang Feng. He is flabbergasted when Bao throws him out of the house. Yuchen tells Songqiao about Zhida. Songqiao, who has some knowledge of psychology, believes it is possible for a person who has amnesia to change completely due to circumstances. Yuchen regains confidence that she will be able to help Zhida regain his lost memory. Sun Jie helps Songqiao deal with Kelvin. Kelvin is upset with Songqiao for helping Haze gain custody of Jovan. | |||

| Songqiao tries hard to break free. Thrown against the wall, she loses consciousness. Sun Jie turns up in time to save her. He runs after Kelvin after seeing Renyi by Songqiao’s side. Kelvin tells Sun Jie he has a tumor in his brain, which makes him lose control of himself at times. That was why he had abused his wife and son. Now that they have left him, he has no reason to carry on with his life. Sun Jie tells Kelvin off for taking things out on Songqiao. Songqiao comes round and assumes it was Renyi who had saved her. She is grateful. Renyi sees Songqiao home and meets Wenyu. Wenyu’s expression changes when she learns Renyi is Songnian’s son. She then deliberately encourages Songqiao to be with Renyi. Renyi brags about how he had saved Songqiao. Sun Jie does not expose him, but his remarks lead Yuchen to sense something amiss. A jealous Ruolin tries to speak up for Rende. Songnian ignores her. Ruolin gets drunk and falls asleep in Renxiao’s arms. Renyi sees Renxiao trying to kiss Ruolin and tells the whole family. Ruolin reminds Songnian how he had promised Li he would take care of her as he owed Li a big favour. | |||

| Sun Min returns to work and is grateful to Songqing for cheering her up. Still thinking she is a man, he is disturbed by her kiss. He tells her that he is not gay. Bao lies to Yuchen that Zhida is Zhang Feng. She claims she had kept the truth to herself for selfish reasons. Sun Min is skeptical. Zhida has come up with the ploy, with the aim of siphoning Yuchen’s money for gambling. A pleased Yuchen takes Zhida shopping. Songqiao passes by the antique shop and learns the book she covets has been stolen. Renyi gets a diamond necklace ready for Songqiao and is embarrassed when someone swops it before he can present it. Sun Jie turns up and takes Songqiao away. He denies stealing the book and says he is set on stealing her heart. Renyi sees Sun Jie kissing Songqiao. While sending Songqiao home, Renyi asks about Songqiao’s relationship with Sun Jie. She reveals Sun Jie was her childhood playmate. Renyi tries to force a kiss on her. Wenyu witnesses the scene and feels she should stop the siblings from dating each other. | |||

| Sun Min falls for Songqing. He also likes her, but is unable to accept that he has fallen for another man. Songqing is flattered when his idol Gigi expresses her feelings for him. He is relieved that he is still interested in women. Sun Min assumes Songqing does not like her. Sun Jie asks Songqiao to help him pick a birthday gift. She assumes the gift is for her and invites him to her birthday party. At Songqing’s shop, Yuchen and Songqiao celebrate their birthdays together. Bao is unhappy that Zhida is present. Songqiao is surprised when Wenyu turns up at the party. The way Wenyu looks at Yuchen makes Songqiao worry for her safety. She begs Wenyu not to harm Yuchen. Yuchen goes off to spend time with Zhida on her yacht. On the way back, she lies that the engine has stalled and they will have to spend the night on the yacht. He is moved when she elaborates on how she has been waiting for him ever since he disappeared in Macau. He holds her hand and is stunned when she kisses him. He pushes her away. | |||

| Sun Jie learns Bighead B has been killed. An eyewitness saw Sun Jie at the crime scene and his fingerprints were found there as well. Songnian and Yuchen are unable to post bail. Yuchen introduces Songqiao to Songnian. Songnian accepts Songqiao’s offer to defend Sun Jie in court. With Songnian around, Sun Jie refuses to tell Songqiao anything about Bighead B. Sun Min tells Songqiao how Bighead B is related to their father’s case. She knows her brother did not kill Bighead B, as Sun Jie merely wanted to identify the mastermind behind the scam and clear their father’s name. Wenyu makes excuses to get closer to Yuchen. She even discourages Yuchen from seeing Zhida. Songqiao is worried Wenyu will harm Yuchen and is embarrassed when Yuchen senses that Wenyu does not like her own daughter. | |||

| Just when Songqiao is at her wits’ end, Interpol officer He Chaoqun (Terence Cao) shows an interest in the case. Chaoqun and Songqiao find the spotlight mentioned in the testimony suspicious. Songqiao calls on the witness, Peiqiang, a hawker’s assistant who claims he saw Sun Jie when the spotlight shone at 7.30pm. After investigating, Songqiao begins to lose confidence. Songqiao tells Sun Min there has been no progress in the case. Sun Min is surprised to see the antique book in Songqiao’s possession. According to her, Sun Jie has always treated the book as a treasure and would not even allow her to touch it. Songqiao confides in Yuchen, as she is unsure if she should trust Sun Jie. Yuchen urges her to be true to her feelings. Renyi apologises to Songqiao and is upset when she asserts that she likes Sun Jie. Wenyu sees Renyi taking Songqiao into his arms. Feeling guilty, she orders Songqiao to break up with Renyi. Songqiao is unhappy with her mother for interfering. | |||

| With help from Sun Jie, Yuchen manages to find out where Changrong is staying. She also gets to meet him at a golf club. Despite Yuchen’s objections, Renyi hands a cheque to Changrong. Renyi cuts cost by retrenching 20% of the staff. The casino ship’s employees are unhappy when they have to work 16-hour shifts to manage the work load. Rende and Renxiao grab the opportunity to instigate them to stage a strike, so that Renyi will be embarrassed when Changrong visits. Sun Jie manages to make the employees agree to give Renyi one hour to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, Renyi has no idea what he should do. As Yuchen has been working on the casino ship for some time, she knows the people well. She convinces Uncle Wang, who leads the other staff, to return to work for the time being. As expected, Changrong is disappointed in the Phoenix Group. Songnian suspends Renyi. Renxiao and Rende convince Songnian to let them handle Changrong. Yuchen makes it known that as Changrong’s ex-classmate, Renxiao should have offered to help right from the start. Songnian meets with Changrong. | |||

| When the conmen call to threaten Zhida again, he is forced to ask Yuchen to let his two friends gamble with him on the casino ship. The conmen release Bao and Baoying after winning $400,000. Ruolin tells Songnian that Zhida lost $400,000. Yuchen promises to make up for the sum. She has no idea it was Ruolin who kidnapped Bao and Baoying. Ruolin is determined to use Zhida to get back at Yuchen, now that she has proven Yuchen cares about Zhida. Zhida tells Yuchen the truth. She is shocked when he tells her he is not Zhang Feng and had lied to her because he wanted to have a taste of big-time gambling. She tries in vain to stop him from leaving her. Yuchen confides in Songqiao. The latter suggests they conduct a DNA test on Zhida. Yuchen remembers the hospital in Macau should have Zhang Feng’s records, as he had undergone an acute appendicitis operation there. Songqiao worries when Sun Jie does not turn up as arranged. When Sun Jie finally arrives, he explains that he had sent an old lady to the hospital after an accident. | |||

| Yuchen decides to stop Wenyu from further action. She promises to avenge her father and grandfather, and wants Wenyu to keep their relationship under wraps. Yuchen accompanies Songnian to a calligraphy exhibition. They meet Songqiao there. When questioned, Songqiao admits Wenyu had told her about the past and has been urging her to seek revenge. Songnian takes a liking to the frank Songqiao. Yuchen gets Zhida’s DNA report and is happy to learn he is Zhang Feng. Zhida blames Bao for not telling him the truth. Songqing gives a cake making demonstration and is upset to see Sun Min behaving intimately with her classmate. When he shows his displeasure, Sun Min asks for 15 minutes to clarify things. Sun Min goes into a fitting room to try some female outfits. Rende, who is there to find his girlfriend, gets a glimpse of her changing. She gives him a slap. Songqing finds out that Sun Min is a girl. He rants at her for making him suspect he is gay. | |||

| Yuchen turns up at the wake to pay her respects to Wenyu. Zhida senses something amiss. Yuchen worries when Songqiao suspects her mother did not kill herself, as her valuables were all intact, except her mobile phone. A devastated Songqing bakes to forget his sorrows. He relates how he had vowed to become the best baker after seeing how happy his mother was with the first cake he had made. Sun Min holds him in her arms to console him. Their feelings deepen. Sun Jie gathers that the crucial person involved in Wenyu’s death is the one she had last called on her mobile phone. Songqiao blames herself for not believing what Wenyu had said about being raped. She asks Sun Jie to find out more about the rape. Sun Jie verifies the rape with Hei Long. As Songnian had brought him up, he promises not to reveal the truth. Hei Long extorts money from Sun Jie. Songqiao stumbles upon them talking and tries to force Hei Long to testify against Songnian. Hei Long manages to run away. Songqiao and Sun Jie have a falling out. | |||

| Yuchen is relieved Songnian is in a coma. Sun Jie tells Songqiao off for being rash. He is disappointed she does not believe he had nothing to do with Heilong’s death. Songqiao apologises to Yuchen. The latter merely asserts that all she wants is for Songnian to come round. Renyi sneers at Yuchen and tells her he can continue to regard her as his sister and let her continue to work in the company, if she gives up her Deputy CEO’s post to him. Yuki (Lynn Poh) is set on divorcing Renxiao. Songqiao visits Wenyu’s niche. Renyi turns up and tries to hint that she should forgive Songnian. He is upset that the woman he once loved has turned out to be his biological sister. Sun Min manages to escape from the container. She passes out and is taken to the hospital. Rende is taken in for questioning when Sun Min blurts out his name to Sun Jie. Yuchen calls for a meeting and hands over her post to Renyi. He fires Sun Jie. | |||

| Songqiao urges Sun Jie not to be anxious about Sun Min’s condition. Songqiao gets Sun Min to release her angst in a good cry. Songnian comes round but is paralyzed and unable to talk. The doctor tells his family he can hear what others say and can use his eyes to express his feelings. Yuchen is happy yet scared that Songnian has come round. She confides in Zhang Feng. Renyi assumes Yuchen has given Zhang Feng the evidence of his corrupt practices to show the board of directors. Zhang Feng denies it and reveals it was Ruolin who provided the information. He feels sorry for putting Yuchen in a spot. Songqiao urges Renyi not to fall into Ruolin’s trap to sow discord between him and Yuchen. However, Renyi is convinced Yuchen is trying to get back at him. Songnian gets worked up upon seeing Songqiao. Songqiao meets Sun Jie and apologises. She had read the police report and realized Heilong’s death was an accident. They reconcile. Sun Jie lets Sun Min return to the shop to work. Sun Min hits a customer when the latter touches her arm. Songqing convinces the boss to give Sun Min another chance. | |||

| Chaoqun drags Songqiao away and tells her that he has set a trap for Sun Jie. Songqiao feels lost after confirming Sun Jie’s identity. Sun Jie is in the midst of trying to steal the chips when he remembers what Songqiao had said to him. He decides to back out of the mission, thereby ruining Chaoqun’s plan. Sun Jie is on the way to see Songqiao when he sees Renyi being attacked. He saves Renyi. The ungrateful Renyi hits him on the back. At the hospital, the injured Sun Jie admits to his actions and asks Songqiao to forgive him. She breaks up with him. Sun Jie learns his injury has caused him to lose the use of his right hand. Songqing tries to console Sun Min and is beaten up yet again. Songnian returns home. He indicates to Renyi that he wants to see Songqiao. Renxiao goes on his knees to beg for forgiveness. Yuchen worries when Songnian does not respond when Renyi asks if they should expose her identity. | |||

| Yuchen feels uneasy when she cannot find Wenyu's handphone. She tells Songnian that Renyi died while trying to escape the police because of Uncle Hong’s money laundering. She promises to take care of the whole family. Suzhen accuses Sun Jie of killing Renyi for revenge. Sadly, Sun Jie tells Songnian he has decided to leave, as with his maimed hand, he can no longer help Songnian. Yuchen tries in vain to make him stay. Zhang Feng visits Renyi, who is living in an old hut. He had saved the latter. Renyi kicks up a fuss when he discovers it was Yuchen who wanted him dead. Zhang Feng knocks him out. Sun Jie is disappointed when Songqiao accuses him of killing Renyi. With Songqiao so upset, Chaoqun continues to tell her about his relationship with He Kun. | |||

| On his deathbed, Renyi asks to see Songqiao. She is puzzled when he calls her, “Sister” and gets more curious when Yuchen is overly anxious about what he had said to her. Songqiao voices her suspicions about Renyi’s alleged death on the boat and his subsequent death from an accident. Zhang Feng loses his trust in Yuchen. Renyi had told Songqiao to be wary of Yuchen and urged her to pay Songnian a visit before he died. Yuchen rushes home when Suzhen tells her Songqiao had turned up to see Songnian. She suspects Songqiao knows the truth about Wenyu’s death. Chaoqun gathers that Uncle Hong and Sun Jie had no reason to silence Renyi. Songqiao senses that Yuchen seems bent on stopping her from seeing Songnian. Songqiao and Chaoqun try to find clues using the set of numbers Renyi left behind, but they fail to find out anything. Songqiao is upset Sun Jie is aloof. When Chaoqun consoles her, she makes it clear she cannot handle another relationship at the moment. Ruolin urges Renxiao to find out more from Zhang Feng. | |||

| Chaoqun and Songqiao confirm that the numbers Renyi left behind referred his locker at the golf club. Unfortunately, Suzhen has taken Renyi’s belongings. Suzhen asks Yuchen to meet her at the office. She sees Ruolin with Renxiao and is so curious that she decides to trail them. Suzhen overhears Ruolin’s conversation with Renxiao and finds out it was Ruolin who killed Renzhong. Ruolin struggles with Suzhen, to stop her from telling Songnian the truth. Suzhen falls down the stairs and passes out. Ruolin and Renxiao run away, thinking she is dead. Suzhen calls Yuchen for help. She shows her the mobile phone she took from the locker and vows to acknowledge Songqiao. During the tussle, Suzhen falls again and dies. Yuchen runs away after taking the mobile phone with her. Sun Jie hands Rende to Sun Min. Sun Min is so frightened that she runs away. To save himself, Rende promises not to sue Songqing. He also tells Sun Jie it was Ruolin who had caused Renzhong’s death. Songqiao is happy Rende has lifted the charges against Songqing. | |||

| Yuchen runs after Zhang Feng and saves him from an accident. At the hospital, he decides not to expose her as she loves him. Sun Jie visits Songnian and uses a simple method to communicate with him. He is puzzled when Songnian asks to see Songqiao. Yuchen is worried Songnian will blurt out the truth to Sun Jie. She urges Zhang Feng to keep an eye on Sun Jie for her. Ruolin gets the lawyer to complete transfer papers for Songnian. Everyone is shocked Songnian wants Ruolin to manage the company. Sun Jie is forced to reveal it was Ruolin who had caused Renzhong’s death. Rende betrays his mother and tells Songnian he did not say anything because he was worried about his mother. Ruolin visits Renxiao and tells him that she has lost everything. He consoles her and assures her that he will always give her support. | |||

Everything will be finalized when the new will is completed. Zhang Feng sympathizes with Yuchen. Ruolin and Rende sneer at Songqiao for being a bastard child. Songqiao feels troubled by the recent happenings. She now understands why Wenyu never liked her and even tried to use her as a revenge tool. Chaoqun takes Songqiao to visit He Kun and relates his own past to cheer her up. Yuchen feels sure she will lose everything she has worked for. She vows not to let Songqiao take it away. Sun Jie tells Songqiao it was Wenyu’s fault for swopping her with Yuchen. Songqiao tells Songqing the truth about her parentage. | Ruolin, Renxiao and Rende all saw Songnian before he died. However, Yuchen had the biggest motive to kill him. With the new will still being processed, she would have been the legal successor. Songqiao tells Sun Jie not to pester her, as Chaoqun is now her boyfriend. She feels Chaoqun gives her a sense of peace she does not have when with Sun Jie. Chaoqun accepts Songqiao reluctantly. Ruolin tells Songqiao and Chaoqun that Zhida is not Zhang Feng. She had doctored the DNA report, as she wanted to use Zhida to deal Yuchen a heavy blow. Ruolin also reveals she suspects Renyi and Songnian were killed by Yuchen. She hopes Songqiao will tell Yuchen the truth, so that Yuchen will dump Zhida. If Zhida loses everything, he may decide to tell the police what he knows. Songqiao refuses to interfere. Asserting that she is just trying to seek the truth on Songnian’s death, however, Ruolin manages to convince Songqiao to help her. | |||

| Zhida finally agrees to help gather evidence against Yuchen. He returns to her and tells Songqiao to look for a cleaner named Zhang Yue-e, who can testify that Yuchen was in the building when Suzhen died. Yuchen and Zhida attend a function. Yuchen is happy everyone has acknowledged her position. A man who looks uncannily like Zhida turns up. Songqiao and Chaoqun fail to find Zhang-sao in her hometown. After Zhang-sao’s husband died, she left. Sun Jie tags along with Songqiao and Chaoqun. He is upset when Songqiao tells him there is no hope of them being together again. Sun Jie finds out that Chaoqun is sick. The latter urges him not to tell Songqiao. Songqiao finally discovers the truth. Chaoqun apologises for his selfishness and asserts that all he wants is to enjoy his last days with her. Ruolin threatens to show the police the recordings Rende possesses of his various rape attempts on girls, if he refuses to admit he lied about Renxiao. Rende does not believe his mother will betray him. Rende is shocked when the police take him in for questioning. When Ruolin bails him out, he hits her. | |||

| King, Queen and Spades are stunned to see Zhang Feng standing behind Yuchen. Zhang Feng challenges King to a duel. If King wins, the casino will give him $100 million and Zhang Feng’s arm. If Zhang Feng wins, King and his gang must vow never to create trouble in Phoenix’s casinos again. Also, their feud will thus end. Yuchen is surprised by Zhang Feng’s confidence. Zhang Feng wins and celebrates with a romantic dinner. Yuchen finds herself being brought back to the happy times of the past. Zhang Feng returns home to find Jingwen waiting for him. Years ago, Zhang Feng was injured by his enemies on the eve of his wedding. Jingwen had saved him and was paralyzed. Feeling bad, he decided to retire from the gambling scene and remain by her side. He promises he will not see Yuchen again. Sun Min survives the fall with few injuries, but Rende goes into a coma. Yuchen is disturbed when Zhang-sao calls and asks for her job back. | Sun Jie manages to find the missing Chaoqun. He is disappointed to witness Songqiao hugging Chaoqun in relief. Renxiao is finally released. Ruolin picks him up. On the way to visit Rende, she expresses her regret at letting greed overcome her and getting Renxiao and Rende into trouble. He urges her to put the past behind her. Rende survives the critical period, but his brain has suffered severe injury and he can no longer function normally. Songqing helps Sun Min to Rende’s ward. Sun Min apologises to Ruolin. Ruolin does not blame Sun Min, as she knows what her evil son has done and prefers him to be in this state. Renxiao explains how Rende had set him up and hit his own mother. | |||
