Life for Lives

Life for Lives is a documentary film on the life and vocation of Kannan Thekkady.,[1] a forest watcher at the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala. Kannan has been working at the reserve for over 35 years and he is a vital cog in the Forest Department's conservation efforts.[2] The film is a journey along with Kannan's route to his designated station in the forest showcasing this man's passion and commitment towards wildlife conservation. Kannan's passion towards wildlife conservation has attracted and inspired nature lovers across the globe and he enjoys the friendship of many celebrated naturalists and nature photographers.[3]

Kannan

Kannan hails from Bengal. His grandfather was a construction worker of Mullaperiyar Dam and subsequently his family settled in Kerala.[4] His father also dedicated his life to protect wildlife. Kannan was selected for the Madhavan Pillai Conservation Award-2011 instituted by The Madhavan Pillai Foundation for Conservation. He has also received the Sanctuary Asia award[5]

The film was narrated by, Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan sister of Shashi Tharoor[6]
