Governance

The school district is governed by a five-member school board, elected in two classes by block voting. The current members of this board are [3]

Licking Heights is under the Ohio Department of Education. It is a member of LACA, which provides services such as an online grade book and a mentor-ship program for high school students.

Schools

Academics

The school district's students have met all OAT and OGT benchmarks for several years, and the district has received an Excellent rating from the Ohio DoE. For the years of 2011-2012, Licking Heights has earned an Excellent with Distinction rating from the Ohio Department of Education.[4] A gifted program called STING (Serving The Interests and Needs of the Gifted) operates in the elementary school system. In the High School, honors courses, Dual enrollment courses in partnership with Central Ohio Technical College, and AP courses are available to students. The school board has also been working to improve the academic rigor of the schools over the last several years, with the enthusiastic cooperation of the new high school principal.

To graduate from the high school, one must have earned 21 whole-year course credits, including 4 in English, 3 in Mathematics, and 3 in Science, among other requirements.

Athletics

The middle school has football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track and field teams. The high school fields similar teams, but also has soccer and golf. Most of the high school teams have junior varsity squads as well, or integrate them all into one unit.
