The Layton Utah Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under construction in Layton, Utah. The intent to construct the temple was announced by church president Russell M. On January 23, 2020, the church announced that a groundbreaking, to signify the beginning of construction, was scheduled to occur on May 30, 2020.[8] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a small-scale, private groundbreaking occurred on May 23, 2020, with Craig C. Christensen, president of the church's Utah Area, presiding.[9] The church then provided photographs and video of the groundbreaking on the date of the originally scheduled date.[10]
