Lawrence Duhé

Lawrence Duhé (30 April 1887 – 1960) was an early jazz clarinetist and bandleader. He was a member of Sugar Johnnie's New Orleans Creole Orchestra.

Duhé was born in LaPlace, Louisiana. He played with Kid Ory and followed Ory to New Orleans. He played with King Oliver, Frankie Duson, and led his own band in Storyville. In 1917 he moved to Chicago where his band was popular in clubs and dance halls and performed at the 1919 World Series. In the 1920s he returned to New Orleans and played with Armand J. Piron. After touring with the Rabbit's Foot minstrel show he worked in Lafayette and New Iberia with Evan Thomas and Bunk Johnson. He retired before from music in the 1940s and died in Lafayette.
