Lauren LoGiudice

LoGiudice was born on June 14, 1983 and grew up in the Howard Beach section of Queens, New York.[5][6] After graduating from Wesleyan University,[7] LoGiudice obtained the American India Foundation William J. Clinton Fellowship Award for service in India. During her tenure in Bangalore, India, she worked with a non-profit organization that served victims of AIDS and studied Bharata Natyam.

After attending Lakme Fashion Week in Bombay as a guest of the designer Dev r Nil, LoGiudice decided to pursue acting back in New York. When she returned, she studied at the most prestigious acting schools and teachers in New York: Michael Howard Studios and the T. Schreiber Conservatory, as well as privately with Lynn Singer and Scott Freeman.[8]

Shortly after, LoGiudice met writer Sharyn Jackson and the two created the infamous "Victoria" party.[9] They continued to produce a yearly Golden Girls event, in 2011 attended by Rue McClanahan's estate.[10]

LoGiudice began her performance career at several off-off-Broadway theaters and immediately earned attention. Her portrayal of the German philosopher Hannah Arendt was noted by The New York Times as “fierce” and “beautiful.”[11]

In 2008 LoGiudice began working in the entertainment industry in Italy, particularly in Rome.[12]

LoGiudice was named in Go Magazine's "100 Women We Love" in 2008. They said: "With all that ambition and focus to LoGiudice's natural beauty and talent and you've got a recipe for success. Just remember, you heard about her here first".[13]

Next LoGiudice was cast in the feature film "Flick's Chicks", as the love interest.[14] Later that year she appeared in “All My Children”.[15]

LoGiudice met acting teacher Lynn Singer in 2009 and began seriously studying vocal production. Under Singer’s tutelage, LoGiudice formally learned to speak without a New York accent, which greatly expanded her casting options and opportunities. In 2010 Sam Roberts included LoGiudice in The New York Times feature story about the process that was on the cover of the Sunday Metropolitan section.[16] The corresponding video, created by Erik Olsen and featuring LoGiudice, was the number-one emailed video on NYTimes.com for a whole week.[17] Consequently, the BBC covered LoGiudice's story.[18]

In 2009 LoGiudice met Sheetal Vyas at the Tribeca Film Festival.[19] Vyas later cast LoGiudice in the feature film "When Harry Tries to Marry". The movie opened in theaters in 2011. LoGiudice earned accolades for her performance—the front page of the Queens Courier, as well as the Gazette called LoGiudice a “rising star."[20]

In 2010 onwards LoGiudice was cast in numerous national and regional commercials, including Zappos' scandalous "More Than Just Shoes" campaign.

In 2012 LoGiudice was cast in Bittersweet Monday, which shot in Austin, Texas. The film played in several film festivals across the country, including in Washington, D.C.[21]

In 2013 LoGiudice was cast in Joseph Graham's feature film Beautiful Something, which played at film festivals including Frameline.

In 2014 LoGiudice was cast as a co-star in the HBO show Veep opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Hugh Laurie.[22]

LoGiudice became a Moth StorySLAM champ in 2016.[23]

In 2009 LoGiudice wrote “Queens Girl,” an autobiographical solo show.[24] LoGiudice toured the play in New York, San Francisco, Portland and New Orleans.[25] Stockholm Pride invited LoGiudice to perform Queens Girl in their cultural festival.[26] The production was noted by Backstage as a valuable performance and marketing tool.[27]

In 2009 LoGiudice formed a production company with Kelsy Chauvin called Over/Under Productions. The two have created three short films: "Bridal Party", "Yes and No", and Reality Check, as well as the web series "Ciao Grandma". "Bridal Party" premiered at the Gotham Screen Film Festival.

In 2011 LoGiudice began to research Old Hollywood cinema and stars to prepare for her second solo play. Garbo Dreams, about Greta Garbo's life and last days, played in NYC, including Stage Left Studio, Casa Belvedere and Galerie St. George.[28][29] The Red Room performances with Michael Arenella were given mention in The New York Times.[30]

Several other projects based on Garbo's life evolved concurrently with the play under LoGiudice's new production company In the Midst Productions.

In 2013 LoGiudice worked with designer Britta Uschkamp and Amber Rima on a photographic exploration of Garbo's life.[31]

LoGiudice and Uschkamp teamed up again in 2014, to continue their exploration of Garbo's life. Together they collaborated with Polly Dawson and Sol Tamargo of DelSol Photography for an experimental underwater photography project in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.[32]

As a member of Campus Pride's speaker's bureau, LoGiudice created an interactive performance workshop based on Garbo Dreams and her research in Old Hollywood. In 2014 she began to tour the workshop performance to colleges and conferences around the country.[33]

LoGiudice began making public appearances in the character of Greta Garbo, otherwise known as Ms. G. In October 2014 LoGiudice appeared in character as a special host of the Top Corporate Allies for Diversity Gala in NYC.[34]

Using the cynical, apathetic comedy of Garbo's persona, LoGiudice wrote several humorous pieces. In 2014 she was published in McSweeney's.[35]

LoGiudice debuted over 10 sketch comedy characters on her YouTube channel and created an interactive web video project called “Yule Log with Friends.”[36] It also showed at the High 5 Gallery in December 2017.[37] Reviews said, “While you watch the characters go about their lives you’ll see the influences from Sacha Baron Cohen and Tracey Ullman.”[38]

LoGiudice has endorsed several non-profit causes throughout her career. She hosted a photography exhibition by Javier Gomez, voted People Magazine's Sexiest Artist Alive,[39] to benefit Strengthen Our Sisters, a grassroots, community base nonprofit serving homeless/battered women and children.[40] LoGiudice has also supported United Cerebral Palsy.[41]
