Langarud is located on the south coast of the Caspian Sea. The small village Espili, the main location of the film Gilaneh, or Gilane (directed by Rakhshan Bani Etemad and Mohsen Abdolvahhab), is situated in the South of Langerud. One of the most important tourist attractions of Langarud is Chamkhaleh coasts. It provides guests with jockeying and yachting and beach landscape.

The old city is divided in two parts by Langeroud river. When Nader Shah was king of Iran, Langerud had been one of the most important dockyards in the north of Iran as Mr.Rabino says. The most famous archaeological place in Langeroud is The Clay Bridge (pole kheshti), a historical bridge across the Langeroud river.[4]
