Lalla (title)

Moulay or Lalla (meaning, "Lord" or "Lady"), is a nobility title of respect used in Morocco. A man or woman who is a bloodline descendant of the Prophet Muhammad and of the 10 Noble families of Morocco has the title of Moulay or Lalla. The title is a prefix to his or her given name or personal name, and is used by individuals of noble or royal background. Some protocol requires that those meeting a Moulay or Lalla must bow and kiss them on the hand to demonstrate respect.[1]
