Ladies' National Football League

The Ladies' National Football League is the secondary inter-county ladies' Gaelic football tournament after the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship. It is competed for annually by the county teams of Ireland. Occasionally, games are held to entertain the crowd ahead of the main fixture, a match between two men's teams. However, if problems arise, such as with the pitch due to weather, the ladies' game is not held so as to preserve the pitch for the main fixture.[1]

It was to act as the curtain raiser to the Tir Chonaill men's clash with Monaghan. But concerns over the Ballyshannon pitch's availability to hold up under the weight of two games meant a decision was made to push the LGFA clash on to this weekend.
