Kristin Burr

Kristin Burr is an American film producer. She first worked at Walt Disney Pictures as a creative executive, before working as a producer in films such as Christopher Robin (2017) and the upcoming Cruella (2021). She created her own production company, Burr! Productions, in 2017, from which she helps produce films for many studios outside Disney.

Biography

Kristin Burr joined Walt Disney Pictures in 1997, where she served as a creative executive for the company. From that position, Burr oversaw development on several films for the company, such as the Touchstone Pictures films Sweet Home Alabama, The Proposal, The Prestige, and Bringing Down the House.[1] Burr also executive-produced the 2005 film Ice Princess.[2] After Disney's acquisition of The Muppets in 2004, she oversaw the development on productions based on the franchise for Disney.[1]

In 2017, Burr co-produced the film Christopher Robin, a live-action follow up to Disney's Winnie the Pooh franchise.[3] The project was developed after Burr convinced co-producer Brigham Taylor, who originally pitched the project to Disney in 2003, to restart development on the film.[4] In 2018, Burr oversaw development on Mary Poppins Returns, a sequel to Disney's 1964 film Mary Poppins.[1]

Burr is currently set to oversee production on 2020s Jungle Cruise, based on Walt Disney's Disney theme park attraction of the same name.[1] Burr will also co-produce the 2021 film Cruella, a prequel film based on the villain Cruella DeVil from Disney's 101 Dalmatians franchise, as well as a film based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Rapunzel.[5][6]

As of 2017, Burr is head of her own production company, "Burr! Productions".[1] From her company, Burr produced the 2019 Paramount Pictures film Dora and the Lost City of Gold, based on Nickelodeon's animated series Dora the Explorer, as well as the upcoming Netflix film Jingle Jangle.[7][8] On January 29, 2020, Burr signed a deal with Lionsgate to produce films for the studio through Burr! Productions.[7] The first film that she will produce following the deal will be MILK (Mother I’d Like To Kill), througth there's no current release date attached.[7]
