Kri (English:Revenge, Nepali; कृ)is a 2018 Nepali romance drama action film, directed and written by Surendra Poudel, produced by Subas Giri and Bhuwan K.C.. The movie stars Aditi Budhathoki, Anmol K.C. and Anoop Bikram Shahi in the pivotal roles.[1][2]

The film was released on 9 February 2018 (Bikram Sambat 26 Magh 2074) in Nepal and 14 February 2018 Worldwide release. The film received mixed reviews from critics though it received praise for its cinematography, music, newness in story and the performances. With budget of रु 3.5 crore it is one of the most expensive movie made in Nepal.[3][4][5]

Plot

Abhay (anmol kc) is an army recruit who comes to Nepal in Holidays. There are Many Girls Who Want To Marry Him But He Still Loves his Childhood Love Interest Kesar ( Aditi Budhathoki ) he visits her village And Decide Not To tell Her That He is Abhay So That He Can Test Whether She Still Loves Him Or Not. He Tries To Make Kesar Love Him Without Telling The Reality. One Day He Proposes Her But She Refuses Saying That She Loves Other Man. Heartbroken Abhay Returns To Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Kesar Comes To Realize That The Guy Was Laure, the Guy She Actually Loves and She Goes To Search Laure When They Are About To Meet Kesar is Kidnapped While Chasing Abhay Has an accident. And The story Takes 4 Months Forward Where Laure Is In Hospital. He Decides To Search Kusum. He Tries His Best And Finally He Reaches To The Kidnapper Don ( Anoop Bikram Shahi ) And the Fight Goes Between Goons And Laure. In the Last Breath of The Villains He Says That Kesar was Killed The Day She was Kidnapped. The Day She Was Kidnapped She was Raped By Goons And Killed. And Abhay Kill The Villain Brutally. The Film Ends With Laure Injured Crying and Holding A Piece Of Cloth Which is Kesar's Last Memory. And The Film Ends With Last Message Notes About Rape Cases.[6][7]

Kri is set in the budget of 3.5 crore NPR and the lead cast of Kri Anmol K.C. has charged 20 lakhs for the film which makes him one of the highest-paid actors of Nepal.[8][9]

Release

The trailer for Kri was released on December 15, 2017 on HighlightsNepal YouTube channel the trailer for the film sits at nearly 2 million views. The film is to be released on Valentine's Day 2018 (14 February 2018) and it was originally set to release in Nepalese's festival thihar. The film's poster was released in Aditi Budhathoki's birthday. It collected Around 75 lakhs in First Day and It Collected 2.1 crores in Second Day which is Highest Single Day Collection in Nepal. It Collected Around 6 Crores In First Week.[10][11][12] The film ended with lifetime collection of 8.5 crores.

Reception

Kri has been labelled as one of the awaited films of 2018. It received mixed to positive reviews from critics and audience. Its average rating was 6.5/10.[13]

Soundtrack

The album received positive reviews. The Song "Yeti Yeti Pani" went viral in Nepal. The song "Ukalima" faced a copyright strike from the original makers, consequently they remade the next song "Dhuk Dhuki" and replaced it with that.
