Korab (name)

In 1983 the Polish Korab coat of arms was unusually incorporated into a grant of arms by the English College of Arms in London. These new arms included the Ciołek Arms held by the Zelenski (Zileinski) clan which were used as the crest of the Armorial Bearings with the shield of the Korab remaining the same. The two families were united by marriage in 1977. This was an unusual grant of arms and said to have made heraldic history in England.

Korab [ˈkɔrap] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Blizanów, within Kalisz County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland.[2]

Mount Korab

Mount Korab ( Macedonian: Голем Кораб, Golem Korab) is the highest peak of the eponymous fourth highest mountain in the entire Balkan Peninsula, standing at 2,751 metres (9,026 ft).

The summit of the Korab mountain range on the AlbaniaNorth Macedonia border, Korab is the highest peak of Albania and North Macedonia and also one of only two summits in Europe, which are the highest point for more than one country.[3] The Korab is also the 18th most prominent mountain peak in the European continent.[4]

Korab is situated within the Korab-Koritnik Nature Park.[5][6] It is noted for its rich flora, including species such as Bosnian pine, European beech, Coppicing forest, and Alder forest.[7]

The peak lies adjacent to the Šar Mountains. Mount Korab is also pictured in the national emblem of North Macedonia.
