The Chief of Police is the commanding officer of the Knoxville Police Department. Units within the Office of the Chief include:

The Patrol Division contains the majority of the uniformed members of the Department. Units within the Patrol Division include:

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for all criminal and felony investigations within the department. Units assigned include:

The Management Division oversees all Human Resources, Financial, and Legal aspects of the department. Units assigned include:

The Support Services Division oversees and educational and training aspects of the department, as well as volunteer programs. Units assigned include:
