Kim Seng Bridge

The Kim Seng Bridge is a road bridge in Singapore River. Singapore. Near the Kim Seng Bridge, it shares the Singapore River, and also Alexandra Canal, the source of the Singapore River is located at Kim Seng. Both are named after Tan Kim Seng, who has been a Singaporean businessman and philanthropist from the Peranakan ethnic group. The bridge is also near to the Great World City, as well as the Riviere condo, which is the former Zouk, who had moved out to Clarke Quay in 2015.[1]

In 1862 Tan Kim Seng erected the first bridge on the site of today's bridge, which was named after him. It was replaced in 1890 by a new building. The increased traffic forced the construction of a third bridge, which was built in 1950/1951; the name has not changed. The new bridge consisted of prestressed concrete and steel. The new bridge is 20 m wide (twice as much as the predecessor bridges) and 26 m long and can carry up to 13 tonnes of weight per m².

Colloquially, Kim Seng Bridge is also known as Hong Hin Kio (丰 兴 桥) in Hokkien and Fung Heng Lo (also 丰 兴 桥) in Cantonese.
