Kidney Federation of India

Kidney Federation of India (Malayalam: കിഡ്‌നി ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ) is a non-government charitable foundation working for patients with renal problems. It is located in Thrissur city of Kerala, India. Syro-Malabar Catholic Church priest Davis Chiramel is the founder of this foundation.[1][2]

Beginning

Davis Chiramel, the founder of this foundation donated his kidney on 30 September to Gopinathan Chakkamadathil, an electrician who lives in Vadanappilly, Thrissur District. From his experience, he started the Kidney Federation of India in Thrissur city for treatment of kidney failure. The KFI has open a dialysis facility with ten machines in Thrissur city and is offering treatment for its members at a maximum of Rs 300 per session.[3][4][5][6]

First donor

Kochouseph Chittilappilly, owner and founder of V-Guard Industries Ltd was the first donor to Kidney Federation of India, when he donated his kidney to truck driver Joy John, a native of Kottayam District.[7][8][9]
