Khangar (community)

The Khangar community are an Indian clan. They are referred to by many other names, such as Khangaar, Khengar, and Rao Khangad.[1]

The community ruled areas of present-day Bundelkhand after the fall of the Chandelas in 1182 A.D. and until the mid-14th century Their seat of power was at Garh Kundar, a fort built by Khet Singh Khangar. During Khangar rule, Bundelkhand was known as Jujhauti, implying the land of warriors.[2]

The Khangar are a Chandravanshi Rajput clan {Khangar means war expert in sword Play}. Maharaja Khet Singh was born in Junagadh, Gujarat state{27 dec 1140}. His father was Raja Kawat-2 [Rud Dev ji]. His mother's name was Kishor kuwar Bai. It is mentioned in prithviraj raso that maharaja khet singh was the first to use singh word in the middle of name. Khangar community had two great kings called maharaj khet singh khangar and maharaja medini rai khangar.
