Kelanoa

Kelanoa is a town on the North Coast of Morobe. The native of Kelanoa are Gitua people originated from Simat Tribe within Houn Peninsula, currently known as Sialum. Simat Tribe rules the piece of land between rivers of Sazom Popolei up to Naum and to Wenga Damansalumaeto up to Kwapea. This tribe was defeated in 1900s in a tribal fight by the newcomers from Siassi Porr, Komba, Sio and Sialum Barry/Suaru/Wasat. This winning migration tribes are now called Gitua people. They are native of Kelanoa, a Town in Huon Peninsula of Morobe. The Imperial Japanese occupied the town during World War II. On 5 January 1944, Australian army units pushing north along the Huon Peninsula in the Huon Peninsula campaign liberated the town.
