Kasha Rae

Kasha is a rap artist and songwriter from Charlton, London, UK. He started his career in the year 2000 as a Drum and Bass MC under the name Kasha B and was the youngest member of Nu Breed Cru. He made the transition to Hip Hop artist in 2006 under the name Kasha and was co-founder/owner of the record label/production group Vivid Imagery. Kasha is a conscious rapper widely claimed for his positivity and honest stance on music. Tyrone Roach under the name of Kasha, made his first appearance on the Hip Hop scene around the end of 2007 when he performed on Kiss 100, Choice FM and at various clubs around London.[1] April 6 09 Kasha released his debut album called ‘The Oracle’ which was labelled "Inspirational" by Hip Hop Connection and now considered a classic. It received airplay by Radio 1, 1xtra, Choice FM and Kiss FM plus it was backed by the UK's top Hip Hop DJ's, accompanied by many reviews and features in a majority of the UK's papers, magazines and blogs. Kasha independently sold over 3,500 physical copies of the Oracle. Kasha released a 2010 Mixtape entitled Retro Luv under the same name. Receiving over 20,000 digital downloads. In 2012 Kasha re-branded his artist name to Kasha Rae with the release of the mixtape entitled The Rappers Digest. launched by SBTV, "The Rapper's Digest" saw Kasha Rae collaborating with the likes of Speech Debelle, Big Page, Mic Righteous and JDiggz. With a hard-hitting and colourful journey that was said to grab hold of the essence of Hip Hop whilst simultaneously ticking a few of the current trends and breathing new life into the urban scene.

Music career

Recorded work

Kasha's most famous first pieces of work is his London take on Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind", which was released in 2009. His remix went on to shift sixty thousand downloads and it features the German number 1 selling artist Iman. His other remix of Estelle's American Boy, aptly titled American girl was released in 2008 and shifted twenty thousand downloads.[2]

Kasha's debut album is called the Oracle and was released in April 2009. Only one single was released from this album called Black Rhyme, which also marked Kasha's first music video. The video was shown on Sky TV The album features a special appearance from Frank Harper from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The Oracle also features The UK rapper Manage and US rapper Klarity.[3]

In January 2010 Kasha completed his first mixtape called Retro Luv but to this day there is very little evidence and copies are hard to come by.[4] It said to of received 20,000 digital downloads and can now only be found on Kasha Rae's website www.kasharae.com

Kasha Rae's 2012 release "Suits" ft Ed Sheeran! A collaboration 2012 two-time Brit Award winner. Saw 23,000 downloads and nearly 200,000 YouTube hits in just 3 weeks after its release, which made headlines on Capital FM, Kiss FM and was blogged by SBTV amongst 100s more. In its first week if sold it would have gone to no. 5 chart position and was the 23rd most shared song across the internet in its second week.

Kasha Rae went on to release The Rappers Digest. launched by SBTV, "The Rapper's Digest" saw Kasha Rae collaborating with the likes of Speech Debelle, Big Page, Mic Righteous and JDiggz. With a hard-hitting and colourful journey that was said to grab hold of the essence of Hip Hop whilst simultaneously ticking a few of the current trends and breathing new life into the urban scene. Digital download numbers are verified at exceeding 15,000 copies however it can now only be found on his website www.kasharae.com

Live work

Kasha is a frequent performer and can often be found performing with bands and musicians. His album tour in 2009 had him performing at venues such as the Emirates Stadium, Scala, Cargo and the Islington Academy. He has supported the Sugababes, Artful Dodger and Samantha Ronson[5] Kasha has achieved performances at The O2, The NEC, The Royal Festival Hall, The Roundhouse, Hyde Park for the Barclaycard Wireless festival, Arsenal's Stadium the Emirate.

Current status

Several concept tracks were scheduled for late 2010.[6][7] It has been confirmed that Kasha Rae has been in the studio with long standing producer Composure Beats and is set to release new music very soon.
