Early Life
Luck was born January 19, 1989 in Auckland, New Zealand. He grew up in a very musical family, and started teaching himself guitar and piano as a teenager. He graduated from The University of Auckland with a Master of Architecture (MArchProf) in 2012.
Career
No Wyld
Luck met fellow No Wyld and BLANKSY member Mo Kheir while the two were studying at university. After forming No Wyld with Kheir and third member Brandon Black, the trio began recording and releasing music online while playing club shows around their hometown, spending most of their free time as students focusing on the band. In 2012 No Wyld released their debut album Preface, which peaked at No.4 on the New Zealand album charts, and saw the trio perform a string of popular shows around the country. In 2013 No Wyld recorded and released their follow up project, an EP titled Abstract, recorded over 3 weeks at the Auckland Red Bull Studios.[2] The EP contained the single Odyssey, which was featured in the 2014 McDonald's Sochi Winter Olympics campaign in the USA. In April 2014, No Wyld signed a record contract with Columbia Records in New York. Later that same year the band signed a publishing contract with Sony/ATV Publishing. In 2015, after a string of successful single releases, No Wyld released their third project, an EP titled Ascension, which featured the lead single ‘Let Me Know’. In November 2016 the band released their second album NOMADS, with features from several notable artists including Kamauu, Oddisee, Allan Kingdom and WYNNE. In 2017 No Wyld finished a month long tour of Europe and announced their hiatus as a group, with the release of the single ‘Off For The Night’, a collaboration with electronic duo MEMBA.
BLANKSY
Following the hiatus of No Wyld, Luck and Kheir created a new group known as BLANKSY, signing a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) in 2018. Since then the duo has released three singles and performed live at a string of concerts.[3]
Other Work
Since 2017 Luck has worked as a record producer, engineer and songwriter for multiple recording artists spanning a variety of genres, including pop, hiphop, electronic and RnB.
