Jomhouria

Jomhouria or Akhbar Al Jomhouria (Arabic: الجمهورية), founded in October 1990, is a large-circulation Arabic-language daily newspaper published in Tunis, Tunisia. The Republic site deals with political, social, sports, cultural and economic information.

Founded on October 1990 by Moncef Ben M’rad.[1]

In 2006, the newspaper was seized by the Tunisian authorities for the publication of an article concerning a corruption case. In 2012, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Tarak Dhiab, lost a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper. In recent times, despite several closings, the newspaper continues to be distributed.[2]
