John Smith (footballer, born 1865)
John Smith (19 December 1865 – 23 January 1911) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside right.[1][2]

Career
He played for a number of clubs including Sunderland, Newcastle United, Kilmarnock and Liverpool. Smith played for Liverpool in their inaugural season in 1892–93 when they played in the Lancashire League. Smith made 11 appearances for Liverpool and scored five goals, including Liverpool's first ever competitive goal. He died on 23 January 1911.[3]
