John A. Kuri

John A. Kuri is a United States author and writer, film and television producer, and director. He is the son of Set Decorator Emile Kuri.

Among John's literary works are Takin’ It Back (2005) a sports-themed novel, the historical novel Cheyenne Rising Sun (2004).

Kuri's filmography has over 100 screen credits including his true story of the Donner Party, One More Mountain (1994) for Disney's Wonderful World of Color and ABC Television' for which he received the Christopher Award,[1][2] the Louis L’Amour western, Conagher (1991),[3] for which the National Cowboy Hall of Fame awarded him their Western Heritage Award,[4][5] the MGM release starring Pat Morita Captive Hearts (1987), he co-created the ABC series Ohara starring Pat Morita (1987) and he was "Emmy-nominated" for John Steinbeck's The Red Pony, starring Henry Fonda in 1973.[6]

Kuri is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a member of the Directors Guild of America, Writers Guild of America, and Art Directors Guild. He is active in digital media and is the founder of a video portal "staytunedtv".

Kuri is a Senior Fellow with the Culture of Lawfulness Project for the National Strategy Information Center, a Washington, DC - based education and research foundation. Kuri wrote the Foreword to 2013 book "Separation of Powers & The Rule of Law, the Lebanese System" from Dr. Akl M. Kairouz and Dr. Issam Y. Atala.

Kuri is a graduate of Army Navy Academy, winning the William Randolph Hearst national rifle marksmanship championship [7]
