Jason Adam

Jason Kendall Adam (born August 4, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays.

Career

In his senior season at Blue Valley Northwest High School, Adam pitched ​41 2⁄3 innings with a 2.16 earned run average. His 79 strikeouts to just 7 walks impressed scouts.

Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals drafted Adam in the fifth round of the 2010 MLB draft and he signed with the Royals, forgoing his college commitment to the University of Missouri.[1]

Minnesota Twins

On August 11, 2014, Adam was traded to the Minnesota Twins for Josh Willingham. After spending 2015 and 2016 in the minors with Minneosta, he elected free agency on November 7, 2016.

San Diego Padres

On July 20, 2017, Adam signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. He was released on August 14, 2017.

Second Stint with Royals

On August 18, 2017, Adam signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals. The Royals called up Adam on May 4, 2018, and he made his major league debut the next day.[2] In 2018, Adam appeared in 31 games, registering an ERA of 6.12 in ​32 1⁄3 innings.[3] On November 30, he was non-tendered by the Royals, making him a free agent.[4] On December 17, the Royals re-signed Adam to a minor league contract.[5]

Toronto Blue Jays

On March 17, 2019, Adam was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.[6] He was assigned to AAA Buffalo Bisons and put on the injured list to start the 2019 season. On August 1, the Blue Jays selected Adam's contract. Adam earned his first major league win on August 10, pitching an inning of relief in Toronto's 5–4 victory over the New York Yankees.[7] He finished the season with a 2.91 ERA in 23 games with the Blue Jays.[8] He gave up the lowest percentage of hard-hit balls of all major league pitchers (20.0%).[9] Adam became a free agent on December 2 after being non-tendered by the Blue Jays.[10]

Chicago Cubs

On January 14, 2020, Adam signed a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs.
