Itokin

Itokin (イトキン) (3 March 1979—31 January 2018)[1] was a member of the Japanese J-pop group ET-King. He was a MC and a track maker.

Biography

Itokin was born in Sanda, Hyōgo. He graduated from Uenodai Junior High School and Arima High School. In 1997, after going to a welfare specialized training college in Osaka, he obtained a bonesetter license.

Career

The origin of the name "Itokin" is that he resembled Shigeru Ito (commonly known as "Itokin"), a character in the manga Boku to issho while he attended vocational school.

In 1999 he became a member of a band, performing as the lead guitarist. He then formed ET-king (a Japanese J-Pop group) with Tenn and Klutch. In 2005, he moved in with seven members of ET-King and lived in the same bedroom as Bucci, who was also a high school classmate. He was an MC and a producer for the group.

Acting as a leader of ET-King, his roles included track production and composition. He also enjoyed graffiti, sculpting, and fighting among other hobbies.

Since October 2012, he served as the main personality on the MBS Radio program 'with...Yoru wa Radio to Kimetemasu.

After taking a brief hiatus from music in 2014[2], Itokin resumed activities on 1 July 2015, producing under the name Makoto Takahira.[3]

Death

Itokin was diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer in July 2017.[4] He died at age 38 on 31 January 2018.[5]
