Ion Overman (born November 9, 1976) is an American actress, known for her roles on television.

Early life

Overman was born in Los Angeles, California. Overman's mother is African-American and her father is of English heritage from the United Kingdom. At the age of thirteen, she made her debut at the Chip Fields Repertory Theater. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles and landed her first agent in 1993.[1]

Career and Personal Life

Overman made her acting debut in the 1995 movie The Walking Dead.[2] In 2000, she was cast as Gabriela Garza in the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital, a character who also appeared in the General Hospital spinoff Port Charles. She left the role in 2002.[1] She later went to appear in an guest starring roles on the number of prime time television series, include Strong Medicine, The Drew Carey Show and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. From 2004 to 2005, she had a recurring role as Candace Jewell in the Showtime drama series The L Word.

From 2005 to 2006, Overman starred in the UPN sitcom Love Inc.[3] The series was canceled after single season. She has appeared in the 2006 comedy film Phat Girlz and played Linda, Josh's (Derek Luke) stuck-up and corrupt fiance in Tyler Perry's 2009 comedy-drama Madea Goes to Jail. In 2013, Ion starred in the Tunnel Vision[4] as the detective trying to find the murderer and who befriends the murdered family's patriarch, who also barely survived being murdered.

Overman had a recurring role on Ghost Whisperer from 2008 to 2010 playing Det. Sam Blair. She also had a recurring arc on Desperate Housewives playing Maria Scott during season five. She also has appeared on Two and a Half Men, Castle and NCIS. From 2017 to 2018, Overman co-starred as Det. Elena Ruiz on the CBS drama series, Wisdom of the Crowd.

Overman has been married twice and has four children. She met her first husband Joseph (Joe) Logan (August 13, 1976) their freshman year of high school in August of 1991. The two began an on and off again relationship lasting two years. The two broke up in January 1994. They reconciled in February 1996. That October, Overman fell pregnant. She suffered a miscarriage that December, deeply affecting her mental state. Logan was there for her through it all. On February 1, 1997, he proposed. The couple married on April 16, 1997. News of Overman’s second pregnancy on July 7, made the couple very happy. She gave birth to the couple’s first child-a son Joseph Derrick Logan Jr on January 30, 1998. Overman doted over her son. She announced her third pregnancy on December 28, 1999. She gave birth to a second son-Jericho Dominic Logan on September 10, 2000. Her fourth pregnancy was announced on March 20, 2001, just six months after giving birth to her second child. On December 18, 2001, she gave birth to Jessica Denise Logan. On June 16, 2004, Overman came home and found Joe having sex with another woman in their bed. She immediately grabbed their 6, 3 and 2 year old children and went to her mothers house. Joe successfully tried to salvage his relationship with her and the two moved back in together. On July 23, 2004, Overman got a phone call from a woman claiming she was pregnant with Joe’s child. She immediately broke things off with Joe and filed for divorce on July 26. The woman Candice Brown (July 20, 1979) was indeed pregnant with Joe’s child who would be born in February 2005. Their divorce was finalized on November 9, 2004, her 28th birthday. They were granted joint custody of their three children. Overman met her second husband Julio Ramirez (May 10, 1980) on August 22, 2009 at a mutual friends birthday party. The two began dating. After three years of dating, Ramirez proposed on November 9, 2012, her 36th birthday. The couple married on February 1, 2013. She gave birth to their first child together Gabrielle Louisa Ramirez on October 21, 2013. On May 29, 2017, Overman filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized on September 7, 2017. Overman said in a 2017 interview about the divorce, “Our first priority will always be our daughter. She deserves two parents in her life. I’ve never used my children against their fathers. Gabrielle understands that her father and I aren’t together and she’s okay with that.” In April 2018, Overman met Dale Godboldo (January 15, 1966). He has 2 sons: Dale Jr (April 13, 1989) and David (June 14, 1992). The two began dating in August of that year. She said in a 2019 interview, “He’s amazing. He loves my children like they’re his own. They love him. His children are super nice and respectful. We both understand each other. I didn’t think I would go back into the dating scene so soon. After my first divorce it took me 5 years but Dale and I are in a very good place. As long as my 4 babies love him, I love him.”
