International Islamic Halal Organization

International Islamic Halal Organization (IIHO) is one of the main bodies of the Muslim World League based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia which aims to spread awareness of the importance of Halal foods (according to Islamic laws) to Muslims in the Kingdom as well as at possible international levels. IIHO not only focuses on food consumption but also in the areas of medicine, cosmetics and others. IIHO has international branches in Japan, Brazil, South Korea and Ukraine.

Main objectives of the IIHO

According to the official website of International Islamic Halal Organization, the main objectives of the organization are

  • Plans related to raising awareness and commitment to Halal issues
  • Accrediting Halal certifying bodies for food and medicine production and exporting based on their compliance with the Sharia’ regulations
  • Encourage conferences and seminars that contribute to achieving its objectives
  • Enhance training programs specialised in Halal Issues and skills
  • Coordination and cooperation with agencies, companies and local and international institutions to achieve best Halal practices in the production, manufacturing and marketing Halal products
  • Enhance scientific research and publishing in the Halal field
  • Follow the work of food and medicine producers, exporting to Islamic countries and Muslim communities and helping them to continue to abide by the Sharia’ regulations
  • Contribute to the production, manufacture and distribution of Halal products

2020 Summer Olympics

International Islamic Halal Organization President and Muslim World League's General Secretary Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa made an exclusive distribution agreement with the Japanese government in order to provide Halal certified meals to Japan and in 2020 Summer Olympics. Mitsuhiro Miyakoshi, Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prince Hiroyoshi, the cousin of the Japanese Emperor Akihito signed the agreement with Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa.[1]
