Ian McGlynn

Ian's career began as a child model and actor. Featured in commercials and print ads for most of his childhood, Ian was mainly recognized as the face on the Congespirin Aspirin box for almost a decade.

Leaving acting and modeling to further his studies in music, Ian began to learn the violin, piano, and drums at the age of 5.

At the age of 12, Ian began composing his own music. He recorded his first demo tape, using a dual cassette deck, recording and then looping each part live from one cassette to the other. The result being 7 original pop songs.

In 1998, Ian released his debut self-titled 6-song EP. Fred Paragano of Paragon Studios in Franklin, Tennessee produced this EP.

In 2001, Ian recorded a live album, "Lemon" with his father Ed McGlynn, the famed drummer of the NJ- based band "The Shadows." "Lemon" was released in December 2002.

In April 2004, Ian released his debut full-length album "Tomorrow's Taken." The album was produced by Shane Tutmarc of the Seattle band "Dolour." "Tomorrow's Taken," features the singles, "You Might Understand," "How Did I Get Here?," and "Here For Me And Not For You."

In 2007, "Tomorrow's Re-Taken," was released featuring remixes of songs from "Tomorrow's Taken," by various artists.

In 2007, Ian released "Diamonds," a 3-song EP.

In 2008, the 3-song "Memorial Day Parade EP," was released as a precursor to the full-length "This is the Sound." This EP features a cover of "Mistaken For Strangers," by the band "The National."

In October 2008, Ian released his second full-length album "This is the Sound." The 11-song album features the singles, "Play Dead," "Peninsula," and "Night Driving."

In the summer and fall of 2009, Ian released a series of four singles. "Nowhere," "I Took an Oath," "Listening In," and "We Should Hang in the Museum." "Nowhere," is on the closing credits of the indie-film "Off The Black," directed by James Ponsoldt, starring Nick Nolte and Timothy Hutton.[1] "Listening In," is featured in the film "My Mom's New Boyfriend," directed by George Gallo, starring Meg Ryan and Antonio Banderas.[2]

In December 2009, Ian released an original Christmas song called, "Listen to the Choir Sing."

In the spring of 2010, Ian performed as an up-and-coming artist on the PBS show "Legends & Lyrics," filmed in Nashville, TN. Ian performed three songs, "How Did I Get Here?,[3]" "Play Dead,[4]" and "Listening In.[5]" Scott Dente of the band "Out Of The Grey" played acoustic guitar for this performance.

In October 2010, Ian released a Halloween-themed single with an A-side and a B-side. An original called "Monsters Cry Too," and a cover by the band "The Church" entitled, "Witch Hunt" from their "Priest=Aura" album from 1992.

In December 2010, Ian released an original Christmas song called, "The Snow Angel and the Icicle Sword."

In 2011, Ian released three singles. "Digital Killed the Record Store," released on April 5, 2011, as a special "Record Store Day" release for that year. "In A Car With You," released on May 17, 2011 and "Change The Weather," released on October 4, 2011.

In June 2012, Ian released his third full-length album, "Now We're Golden," recorded in New Jersey, Amsterdam, and Paris and was produced by Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, R.E.M., Big Star).

In December 2013, Ian released a 6-song EP of original Christmas songs called "North Pole Vault EP." It features the single, "Our Favorite Christmas Movie."

In June 2016, Ian released a piano lullaby album called "Now We're Golden - Piano Lullabies," of his 2012 full-length, "Now We're Golden."

In July 2016, Ian released an 11-minute song called "Flag Day."

• "Nowhere" (film version)[6] (co-written with Chris Newkirk) is featured in the end credits of Off the Black, starring Nick Nolte and Timothy Hutton.
• "How Did I Get Here?" (DM Remix) and "No Time" (CoCo Remix) are featured in the documentary One – A Lucid Experience.
• "Listening In" (co-written with Chris Newkirk and John Bonaventura) was written for and featured in My Mom's New Boyfriend, starring Meg Ryan and Antonio Banderas.
• An untitled instrumental piano piece is featured in the Dwell.com short featuring designer-architect Jeffrey Beers. The short is "The Intelligent Kitchen" by Gary Nadeau.[7]
• "Bampa" (co-written with Dave Macarone of Shy Talkers) is featured in the Green Domain 30 second commercial spot. McGlynn also acts in it.
• An untitled instrumental piano piece is featured in the Dwell.com short featuring husband-and-wife architecture team Yoshiko Sato and Michael Morris. The short is "The Bathroom Reinvented" by Gary Nadeau.[8]
• "No Squares" (co-written with Chris Newkirk and Dave Macarone of Shy Talkers) is featured in the 2010 Heineken Light "Heineken Light Trailer" movie theater commercial.
• "Banana Boat" (co-written with Dave Macarone of Shy Talkers) is featured in the 30-second T-Mobile commercial "School Bus".
• Thirteen short scores composed and performed with Dave Macarone (of Shy Talkers) for thirteen short commercials for "Downtown Dubai - The Centre of Now".
• "Snack Pack" (co-written with Dave Macarone of Shy Talkers) is featured in the 30-second T-Mobile commercial "Musical Chairs".
• "Twix Bites - Walkman," McGlynn was hired to sing "Get Out Of My Dreams, Get Into My Car" by Billy Ocean.
• "Show Me How You Roll" (co-written with Dave Macarone) is featured in the new fall denim 2017 collection ad for Lucky brand Jeans.
