I Mom So Hard

I Mom So Hard (stylized as: #IMOMSOHARD) is a comedy duo that features comedians Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley. The group had received more than 200 million views for their online videos, toured internationally, and released an eponymous New York Times bestselling book.

Web and television

The group #IMOMSOHARD was founded by Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley as a comedic duo.[1] The two met after college, having lived both their lives in Nebraska.[2] They began producing an eponymous show on YouTube focusing on their experiences raising children between two and six (they originally had four of them between them). Their YouTube channel and Facebook web series launched on Mother’s Day in 2016,[3] and received two hundred million views over time.[4][5][6] In 2017 the web series was acquired by CBS for development into a television series, starring the original duo and opposite male leads Freddie Prinze Jr. and David Flynn, entitled I Mom So Hard.[7] In 2019, they released a comedy special on Amazon Prime, and the comedy duo then began preparing an untitled comedy for ABC.[8]

Touring

As a touring group, #IMOMSOHARD played its first live show in September 2016 at the Aksarben Cinema in Omaha, Nebraska. A review from their first show wrote “Kristin and Jen quickly made the atmosphere feel like a ‘dinner party with 400 friends’ as they walked around pouring red wine. The fans were ecstatic.”[9] They then began national tours for their comedy show with their 2017 show Moms’ Night Out – Summer Break Tour[1] that had 72 city tour stops. In 2018 they began a new tour entitled Mom’s Night Out: Round 2, which visited 53 cities. In 2020 they began a national encore tour of the show.[10] Shows have included a mixture of scripted lines, improvisation, and audience participation.[11] When not touring they are based in Los Angeles.[12]

Books

In 2019 they wrote an eponymous book entitled #IMOMSOHARD, [13] which became a New York Times bestseller in the “Advice, How-To & Miscellaneous” category.[14] The two proceeded on a national book tour in support of the book.[15][16]
