History

Humanity's Last Stand was behind the creation of a false Mutant Liberation Front, formed by human members of H.L.S. posing as mutants. The humans use drugs and or technologically enhanced suits in order to mimic mutant powers. The goal of this is to discredit mutants. They also attempted to murder humans who sympathized with mutants, which led them to battle the Punisher and his allies.

Mutant Liberation Front

Agents of Humanity's Last Stand,[5] this group were normal humans given drugs or costumes to empower them. They claimed to be mutants in order to defame mutants. One of their major tasks was the attempted assassination Reverend William Connover. Among its members are:

  • Deadeye (Antonio LeBlanco)[5] - He wears armor that allows him to fire plasma blasts from his eye. He is a former Mafioso. He is slain by the mutant-obsessed X-Cutioner.[5] His corpse is destroyed by Blast Furnace to prevent an autopsy.
  • Deadeye (clone) - A clone of the original.[6] It was presumably slain in the destruction of Humanity's Last Stand's base.[7]
  • Blast Furnace[8] - A robot that could incinerate compromised members. It is operated by remote control. After destroying Deadeye's corpse, it destroys itself.[6]
  • Blast Furnace II - A second version of the original.[9] It was destroyed by the Punisher.[7]
  • Corpus Delecti (Charles Spencer)[8] - A melding of a dead person and mechanics. This entity has superhuman strength, immunity to most forms of harm and a personal energy field. When the team's original mission is compromised, he is incinerated by Blast Furnace.[8]
  • Corpus Delecti (clone) - A clone of the original.[7] Killed by the Punisher.[7]
  • Blindspot (Rose Smith)[9] - She could generate flashes of light from her hands.[7] She is killed by Simon Trask when she refused to battle the Punisher.
  • Thermal (Harry Riddle)[9] - He could generate blasts of heat or cold. He is likely killed when Simon Trask destroys their base.

Other versions

Simon Trask is featured in the Ultimate Marvel universe (but is referred to as Bolivar Trask). He is shown to be the CEO of Trask Industries and the employer of Edward Brock Sr. and Richard Parker for a symbiotic prototype as a cure for cancer. However, he later tricked the two to sign a contract that made the project his full property and was implied to be responsible for the plane crash that killed Edward, Richard and Mary Parker. Years later, Eddie Brock Jr. ends up stealing the prototype for himself to be Venom. After researcher Adrian Toomes witnesses Venom fighting Peter Parker, Trask hires Silver Sable and her Wild Pack to find and capture Venom. After Venom is delivered to Trask, he and Toomes begin to experiment on Venom, but they're suddenly interrupted by the Beetle on Trask's facility which allows Venom to escape.[10]

In other media

Television

Simon Trask is seen in Iron Man: Armored Adventures. In the episode "The X-Factor", he is attacked by Magneto for being a member of Humanity Now (which might be based on Humanity's Last Stand). Trask is eventually found wrapped in a pipe by Iron Man before Magneto attacks. Senator Robert Kelly's campaign mentions what happened to Trask.

Video games

  • Simon Trask appears in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game, voiced by John Billingsley. In addition to tricking Edward Brock Sr. and Richard Parker signing away their symbiote prototype as a cure for cancer as his full property, he manipulated Brock to steal a piece of the unstable suit to try on board so that the suit would remain in his possession despite being incomplete and very dangerous, causing the plane crash that killed Edward, Richard and Mary Parker. Continuing in the Ultimate Marvel storyline, Trask and Adrian Toomes attempt to re-create the Venom symbiote. Trask ends up hiring Silver Sable and the Wild Pack to once again capture Venom and, after they deliver to Trask following Venom's fight with Spider-Man, Trask traps Eddie inside an energy cage, where he and Toomes convince to test the Venom suit for them, since they knew his and Peter's fathers. Trask hires Electro to fight Venom in Times Square, but their battle is interrupted by Spider-Man. However, Venom shows an unusual amount of control over around Spider-Man and defeats Electro, before returning to Trask, where he informs him of what has happened. Remembering that Richard's DNA was used as the basis of the Venom suit, Trask concludes that Peter is Spider-Man and getting some of a DNA sample should improve the suit. Trask then sends Silver Sable and the Wild Pack to hunt Peter down, with Eddie as bait, but he transforms into Venom and escapes. Later, Sable captures both Venom and Spider-Man and delivers them to Trask, where Eddie is once again imprisoned inside an energy cage, while Trask and Toomes create their own sample of the symbiote and Toomes injects Peter with it. However, the experiment goes awry and Peter ends up being the Carnage symbiote, knocking Toomes unconscious and wreaking havoc in the Trask Building. After Venom defeats Carnage, he absorbs the Carnage symbiote off Peter, which gives him complete control over the Venom suit, and then goes after Trask, planning to kill him for both using him as a weapon and his role in his and Peter's fathers' death. Spider-Man arrives at Trask first and confronts him about info on Richard. He shows Spider-Man the files he has on him, but then Venom attacks and Trask tries to escape in a helicopter, which he doesn't know how to operate, so Spider-Man is forced to fight Venom in order to save Trask and obtain the files. After Venom is defeated, both him and Trask are arrested by the arriving S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Trask finally gives Spider-Man the files revealing the truth behind his and Eddie's fathers' death. However, Venom manages to escape and later confronts Trask in a minimum security prison, where he finally kills him (off-screen) for all his crimes.
  • Trask Industries is alluded in The Amazing Spider-Man video game. A sign that reads "Trask Industries Sells the Suit" that can be seen on the road.
