Hospital (1997)

Hospital, one of the early offerings from Channel 5 (UK), was a one-off comedy described as a cross between ER and Airplane!. Doctor Jim Nightingale (Greg Wise) is caught between helping his patient or flying off to Australia with his fiancée, while the other doctors go about their duties with a large dose of lunacy: they prescribe classical music instead of drugs; the general manager helps the budget by taking pocket money from small children; and patients are delivered to casualty via the ambulance's windscreen. In one controversial scene, a man farts into an empty Pringles tube, but follows through and, in a UK TV first, a piece of actual faeces is seen for a split second as it plops into the tube. There were complaints from all Channel 5 viewers at the time. Although one of the 23 who complained had hit his head while trying to pick up a stray peanut while reaching to switch back to ITV.
