Henry Hunloke

Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Philip Hunloke TD (27 December 1906 13 January 1978) was a British Conservative politician.

Hunloke was born in Marylebone, the son of Philip Hunloke. On his paternal grandmother's side, he was descended from William IV.

Hunloke was a keen amateur cricketer and played minor counties cricket for Wiltshire on eleven occasions from 1926–28.[1]

He married Lady Anne Cavendish, daughter of Victor Cavendish, 9th Duke of Devonshire, on 28 November 1929. They had three children before their divorce in 1945:[2]

  • Phillipa Victoria Hunloke (10 December 1930 20 July 2005), married William Astor, 3rd Viscount Astor
  • Timothy Henry Hunloke (born 30 December 1932)
  • Nicholas Victor Hunloke (born 22 April 1939), married Lady Katherine Montagu, daughter of Alexander Montagu, 10th Earl of Sandwich

Hunloke was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for West Derbyshire in 1938, resigning in 1944. He married again to Virginia Archer Clive, daughter of Percy Clive, on 19 May 1945. They had two children before their divorce in 1972:[2] He later made a third marriage, to Ruth Holdsworth,[2] and died in Marlborough, Wiltshire aged 71.
