History
In the early 20th century Romford Urban District Council met at the court house of the independent liberty of Havering in the market place.[2] The new building was designed by Herbert R Collins and Antoine Englebert O Geens in the International Moderne style opened as Romford Town Hall in 1937.[1] It was established as the headquarters of the new Municipal Borough of Romford, which was incorporated that year and, after being extended by three bays to the south west in 1960,[1] went on to become the home of the London Borough of Harrow in 1965.[3] It was extensively restored and redecorated in 2018.[4]
