Get In (film)

Get In (French: Furie) is a 2019 French horror thriller film written and directed by Olivier Abbou. The film stars Adama Niane, Stéphane Caillard and Paul Hamy in the lead roles.[1] The film was released in France on 6 November 2019 and received positive reviews from critics.[2] It was also streamed via Netflix on 1 May 2020 coinciding with May Day.[3][4] The film was originally released in France as Furie but was later purposely renamed as Get In by the Netflix platform in order to avoid the confusions with the 2019 Vietnamese martial arts film Furie and also with the 2017 American thriller film Get Out which was directed by Jordan Peele.[5]

Synopsis

Husband Paul (Adama Niane) and wife Chloé (Stéphane Caillard) find their house being occupied by disturbing squatters after returning to home. The squatters refuse to leave and make it difficult for the couple. Paul takes necessary legal steps, but to no avail. He was out of options to find a proper shelter for both his wife and his son and finally they end up in a trailer park with suspicious strangers and things suddenly take a dark turn.

Critical reception

Writing for Movie Nation, Roger Moore called the movie "a taut, troubling and topical French thriller".[6]. Albert Nowicki of His Name is Death believed the movie was inspired by 1970s psychological thrillers, most notably Straw Dogs. He also praised the dynamics between the two central characters portrayed by Paul Hamy and Adama Niane.[7]
