George Albert Clough

George Asa Clough (May 27, 1843 December 30, 1910) was an architect in Boston, Massachusetts in the later 19th-century. He designed the Suffolk County Courthouse in Pemberton Square, and numerous other buildings in the city and around New England. Born in Blue Hill, Maine, Clough trained as an architect at the firm of Snell & Gregerson, Boston, 1863-1869.[1] He worked as Boston's first city architect (1875-c. 1890s).[2][3][4] Historian Walter Muir Whitehill described him as "a competent but not very inspired practitioner."[5] His finer works, typically in Richardsonian Romanesque style, disagree.
