Gaius Papirius Carbo (praetor 168 BC)

Gaius Papirius Carbo was a Roman politician who served as praetor in 168 BC alongside Gnaeus Baebius Tamphilus, Lucius Anicius Gallus, Gnaeus Octavius, Publius Fonteius Balbus, and Marcus Aebutius Helva.[1] He was given jurisdiction over Sardinia that year as the Third Macedonian War was being fought by the consul Lucius Aemilius Paullus Macedonicus abroad.[2][3]

However, when each of Carbo's fellow praetors went to their assigned territories, he remained in Rome by order of the Senate so that he could oversee the courts for suits between Roman citizens and foreigners.[4]
