Farid Elias Khazen

Farid Elias Khazen (also Farid Elias el-Khazen Arabic: فريد إلياس الخازن) is a Lebanese politician and professor of political science at the American University of Beirut.

Education

Born 1960,[1] Farid studied architecture and social sciences at the American University of Beirut from 1976 to 1978,[1] then he received a PhD in international studies from Johns Hopkins University in 1987. He also earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Missouri State University in 1980. In addition, he briefly studied at Cornell University.[2]

Career

Farid has been a professor and Chairman of Political Studies at the American University of Beirut.[3][4][5] He used to be a MP affiliated with the Free Patriotic Movement until 20 May 2018.[6] He received 52.4% of the vote in his district in the general election of 2009,[7] and he won 60% of the vote in the general election of 2005.[8] He makes regular media appearances, discussing a variety of topics.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15] On 5 November 2018, he was appointed as the ambassador of Lebanon to the Holy See.[1]

Personal life

He is married, and has three children.[1]
