Etisalat Misr is the third mobile operator to enter the Egyptian market and the first integrated operator for telecom services in Egypt. It officially started its business in 2007 and managed to attract one million subscribers in the first fifty days of the launch of its operations, becoming one of the largest mobile networks in the Egyptian market. Etisalat Misr was the first company to provide high-quality 3.5G services, and was also the first to provide 4G services without the need for its customers to change their SIM cards, in addition to constantly developing its network.

Etisalat Misr is one of the companies operating under Emirates Telecommunication Group Company, which was established in 1976 and later expanded to operate in 16 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, serving more than 148 million subscribers with its services. Etisalat Group is ranked as “The Most Valuable Portfolio Brand” in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by Brand Finance, breaking the $ 11 billion barrier in terms of wider portfolio value.

Etisalat Misr spearheaded several rankings in various fields, achieving hundreds of international and local awards, the last of which was the ICT industry’s «Best African Operator» Award, during the Telecom Review Leaders' Summit. Etisalat Misr also won the “Best Working Environment and Recruiter” in Egypt for the year of 2020.

Within two years of operation, the company was able to attract more than 15 million subscribers, which is considered an achievement as other competitors only achieved that number within ten years.


Investments

Etisalat Misr is one of the largest investors in Egypt, spending more than 50 billion pounds over a period of 12 years to develop its network and infrastructure. The company’s capital also increased by approximately 4.5 billion pounds, raised from the company’s main shareholders to make the total capital 19.5 billion pounds. These ongoing investments have enabled Etisalat Misr to become the prime company in the Egyptian telecommunications market.

The ownership structure of Etisalat Misr is divided into seven entities: Etisalat International Egypt Co. Ltd. – Emirates 66% of capital, Post for Investments S.A.E – Egypt 20%, DAS Holding 5%, DIFC LLC – UAE 5%, Saudi Tech Invest Com 1.5%, Al Naboodah Investments – UAE 1.5%, and Mawarid Finance – UAE 1%.

Etisalat Misr adopts advanced smart solutions in smart city technologies, and management of supply chains concerned with the flow of goods and services. It also provides many services for the New Administrative Capital Project, starting from the provision and installation of integrated solutions, to transforming the city's services, from electricity, water, gas, parking, road lighting, billboards, waste management, automated and smart services, and even the establishment of a management and control center, all the way to providing technical support.


Sponsorship of Al-Ahly Sporting Club

On October 4, 2011, Etisalat Misr signed a contract to sponsor Al-Ahly Club’s shirt for three years. The signing was held in the presence of the company’s chairman Eng. Gamal El-Sadat, it’s CEO Saleh Al-Abdooli, and a number of company leaders, in addition to Al-Ahly Club President Hassan Hamdi and Al-Ahly Club’s Vice President Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the club’s technical director, Manuel Jose. Etisalat Misr sponsored Al-Ahly Club shirt for three years for 135 million pounds, after a rife competition with Vodafone. The bid against Vodafone had reached 130 million, and Etisalat was able to seal the deal after raising the bid by 5 million.


Social Responsibility

Etisalat Misr has exerted great efforts in the field of social responsibility in the Egyptian market throughout the years of its operation, and has spent over 100 million pounds on different social causes. Since its inception in Egypt, it has launched programs within the "cause-based CSR" concept, which is based on tackling specific issues and harnessing all the company's capabilities to serve these issues. These programs included, but are not limited to, "Water is the Origin of Life", "Support for Autism", and “Support for the Deaf” through the "Line of Sight" initiative for the users of sign language, which depends on technology provided by Etisalat. The company was also keen on sponsoring the Egyptian Paralympic Committee (which had multiple accomplishments at the London 2012 Olympics), in addition to participating in Virus C campaigns. All of these initiatives have made a clear, on-ground difference in the fields of environment, special needs, health and sustainable development.
