Emery T. Knudson

Emery Thomas "E. T." Knudson (September 3, 1896 – June 13, 1974) was a Justice of the Idaho Supreme Court from 1959 to 1965, serving as Chief Justice from 1961 to 1963. He received his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1921.

Born in Post Falls, Idaho, Knudson served overseas during World War I.[1]

Knudson was elected to the court in 1959. In 1965, Knudson became the first elected official in the state of Idaho to take a controversial loyalty oath enected by the state legislature in 1963, and thereafter enjoined while awaiting litigation.[2] Knudson resigned from the court later that year.[3]
