Ekaterina Schulmann

Ekaterina Schulmann (Russian: Екатерина Михайловна Шульман, Yekaterina Mikhaylovna Shulman; born 19 August 1978, Tula, Russia) is a Russian political scientist specializing on the studies of lawmaking.

Life

She is an associate professor of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.[1] In 2018, she became a member of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights.[2][1] On 21 October 2019 she was dismissed from the Council.[3]

Schulmann was born in Tula, in Central Russia, and graduated there from high school. She studied political science at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. After graduation, she worked at the State Duma of the Russian Federation, subsequently in a consulting company. In 2013, she obtained a Candidate of Sciences degree in political science and was hired by the Academy. Her research interest is lawmaking, in particular, in Russia.[4]

Schulmann is popular with Russian media and is often invited as a columnist or a commentator. In particular, she writes columns for Vedomosti, The New Times and comments weekly at Echo of Moscow.[5][6]
