Aburrow was a right-handed batsman and useful change bowler. He was a mobile outfielder with a strong throw.[1]

Aburrow was the son of the Slindon smuggler of the same name. Whereas his father was called "Cuddy", Aburrow junior was always known as "Curry" and this sobriquet is often recorded in contemporary scorecards.[2] He is known to have played in 44 first-class matches from 1772 to 1782 but his career with Hambledon began in the 1760s.[3]
